Historical background

The Canadian Society for Traditional Osteopathy (So.Ca.T.O.) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2001. So.Ca.T.O. is an independent organisation not affiliated to any school.

Because of its numerous beneficial effects, osteopathy is getting more and more known throughout the country as an alternative and complementary medicine. Although osteopathy is known both by patient and the medical profession, it has not yet obtained official recognition by the government.

A group of 4 volunteers have founded So.Ca.T.O. to answer to a representation need. The goal of So.Ca.T.O. is to get in relation with other instances who represent osteopaths and protect the public by seeking a unity that we believe can generate a greater recognition of osteopathy in Quebec and in Canada

The Canadian Society for Traditional Osteopathy is an organisation that aims to :
  Protect, promote, enhance and develop the practice and recognition of osteopathy in Quebec and in Canada;
  Impose an ethical practice of osteopathy in the public’s interest;
  Inform and protect the public;
  Create a structure that represents osteopath’s interests.
